Digital Ancestors is a practical guide for family historians who want to use artificial intelligence to read old documents, translate family letters, solve name problems, compare records, and preserve family stories — without mistaking AI confidence for proof.

About the Author
J M Karis lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is the son of a Greek immigrant who left Rhodes and worked in the steel mills of Pennsylvania and Indiana — a man who said little about where he came from. The questions that silence left behind became years of genealogical research across Greek, Polish, and American records, and eventually this book. He came to artificial intelligence as a skeptic and stayed as a careful practitioner. He writes about family history, genealogical method, and the discipline of verifying what technology hands you.
Mornings with Mags, a memoir, is forthcoming from Rhodes Press. He is also at work on a book about the immigrants who came to the steel mills of Pennsylvania and Indiana between the 1920s and the 1950s.
